Justin Rood reports at http://abcnews.go.com/... that Walt Monegan, Alaska's former Commissioner of Public Safety, who was allegedly fired by Gov. Palin because he refused to fire her ex-brother in law, was also the prime mover of a multi-million dollar plan to beef up law enforcement efforts to prevent sexual assaults against women and children. The program would have helped ameliorate "epidemic" levels of violence against women and children in that state. The program has stalled since Monegan's firing. This article does a great job exposing the broader consequences of Palin's tendency to privilege her personal grudges over the general welfare. By punishing Monegan over a personal issue, she's punishing Alaskan women and children at risk of sexual violence. Not exactly emblematic of a pro-woman, pro-family politician!
